Extrusion is the most common process for wire insulation and to form the outer sheath of the cables. Through an extruder molten plastic is applied to the entire circumference of the wire forcing it to adhere to the structure of the wire or cable.
Dimensional stability, continuity of insulation, material stability etc. are critical as these cables have to comply with many safety regulations.
